National Collaborative Outreach Programme Digital Communications Coordinator

The National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) is a new programme which aims to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education.

This role forms part of the University of Worcester’s work delivered through the new NCOP and the Aim Higher Partnership. The NCOP is a national HEFCE funded programme of targeted outreach to identified cohorts of young people, residing in identified wards.

Our approach to will bring together cutting-edge technology, real-time digital campaigns, creative and innovative thinking and insightful analytics and evaluation. We are building a dynamic new team and investing in a new sector-leading Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which will be the focal point of our digital stream. By combining targeted, personalised and timely communications with a strong social engagement, we aim to inspire and increase applications and aspirations to Higher Education. We believe that this is one of the best ways to engage with young people. 

You will bring strong CRM and digital communications experience to the role, which will enable you to implement high quality campaigns and initiatives, develop and administer the CRM system and provide relevant communications to a range of young audiences. You will be able to monitor, measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communications and campaigns using a number of tools including in-built CRM metrics and other available metrics. 

You will form a key part of the University’s NCOP work and the role will bring you into contact with a wide range of colleagues around the University and beyond. You flare and imagination will help to drive the team forward to produce sector-leading work benefiting learners throughout the region.

You will be based within the Communications and Participation Department, which is responsible for all aspects of external and internal communication at the University of Worcester with the aim of driving recruitment and building the reputation of the Institution amongst a variety of stakeholders. 

The work of the Department brings it into close contact with staff across all levels; both within the organisation and outside. There is a strong culture of teamwork and supporting each other in times of pressure. The department operates a time off in lieu system.

Main duties

Main duties

1. To lead the NCOP Digital Engagement stream. 

2. To oversee the implementation of new CRM system. 

3. To create and continually develop detailed communications plan, covering email/social/digital engagement in collaboration with key NCOP stakeholders and wider Communications team. 

4. To work with NCOP stakeholders to define segmented audiences. 

5. To work with the NCOP Graduate Ambassador Coordinator to gather and report participant data in line with HEFCE NCOP reporting model. 

6. To provide regular updates to senior staff through written reports, meetings and presentations. 

7. To oversee social media channels, working with NCOP Digital Communications Assistant. 

8. To lead the technical build of HTML emails for use within the CRM system. 

9. To work with NCOP Digital Communications Assistant to create content used in the communications plan. 

10. To work with NCOP Digital Communications Assistant to analyse the impact and effectiveness of digital content. 

11. To have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the CRM system and oversee its ongoing development. 

12. To attend / support the NCOP management and activity groups as required. 

13. To support other student recruitment activities associated with the department as and when necessary, sometimes outside of core hours.

Please provide evidence of how you meet each of the essential criteria.

Essential Criteria

1. Educated to degree level (or equivalent). 

2. High-level experience of running CRM systems. 

3. Considerable experience of digital marketing, including use of social media and email campaigns with a focus on younger audiences. 

4. Detailed technical knowledge of digital marketing and CRM systems including coding HTML emails. 

5. Analytical skills with the ability to turn numbers and data into meaningful reports and insights. 

6. Excellent organisation, project management and time management skills, with a high attention to detail and ability to track complex activities. 

7. Ability to confidently and articulately communicate ideas and plans to a range of stakeholders both orally and in writing. 

8. High quality interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and sensitivity. 

9. Strong team working abilities with the ability to lead and motivate others. 

10. Self motivated with an ability to work independently. 

11. An eye for creative design which is appealing to a younger audience. 

Desirable Criteria

1. Understanding of the UK Higher Education environment. 

2. Experience of increasing access and widening participation in Higher Education. 

3. Experience of Higher Education digital marketing.
