The Institute of Health & Society provides learning opportunities for a range of students at various levels from Foundation Degree through to Post-Graduate research degrees
The Foundation Degree team require a University Tutor who has a wide range of experience working with practitioners in physical health and wellbeing across health and social care settings. The successful candidate will be an experienced academic/practitioner able to support the growing development of foundation degree programmes aligned to new apprenticeship standards and assistant practitioner routes.
20 minute teaching session (followed by 5 minutes of questions)

Teaching session topic:
You have 20 minutes to deliver part of a teaching session that you would deliver to a group of level 4 Foundation Degree students. You will need to teach theory related to practice and consider how you can make the session innovative yet informative/instructive for the students. You will have access to a computer and data projector, and a small group of staff, a student and service user. Please let us know if you require any specific or other equipment. The Chair of this panel will feed back to the main interview panel.

This post sits within the Department of Allied Health and Social Sciences, which is one of three departments in the Institute of Health and Society. The other 2 Departments are: Nursing and Midwifery and Psychology.
The foundation degree team support the following programmes: BA (Hons) Top-up- Applied Health and Social Sciences, BSc (Hons) Top-up- Child and Adolescent Health and a wide range of Foundation Degrees including FDSc Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Health and Social Care.
The successful candidate will join a team of academics and practitioners supporting an integrated and inter-professional learning and teaching experience for students across a growing profile of Foundation Degrees. They will contribute to the further development of these roles through the new Apprenticeship pathways.
The post holder will also work as part of a multi-professional team alongside colleagues in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Advanced Clinical Practice, Paramedic Science, Public Health, Nutritional Health and Physician Associate programmes. The post holder will also work collaboratively with colleagues across the Institute of Health and Society and the wider University.

- Main duties
Main duties1. To contribute to high quality teaching and learning in health and social care.
2. To contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, marking and moderation of student work, individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
3. To contribute to the overall delivery of Foundation Degree programmes including Course Leadership and wider University activity as appropriate.
4. To undertake Personal Academic Tutor responsibilities, including maintaining records, for a group and/or individual students as required in order to support students to optimise their learning and career progression, monitor their progress and enable them to develop as practitioners.
5. To contribute to the development of effective partnerships and student placement opportunities within health and social care settings.
6. To communicate effectively and constructively with colleagues within the Institute, University and practice education providers.
7. To attend relevant meetings and contribute to appropriate committees within the Institute of Health & Society and University of Worcester.
8. To actively engage in scholarship, research and professional / academic publication in ways which contribute to the University’s / Institute objectives and contribute to ensuring up-to-date, leading edge teaching.

Please provide evidence of how you meet each of the essential criteria.
1. Evidence of teaching experience at HE level that demonstrates excellence and innovation, including the ability to enthuse, motivate and facilitate student learning and intellectual challenge, using a variety of methods of learning and teaching.
2. A combination of experience and expertise in physical and/or mental health in health or social care settings.
3. Contemporary knowledge of the context of future integrated health and social care services.
4. A first degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant area.
5. Masters qualification (working towards, if not completed).
6. Commitment to disseminating professional/academic information to a wider audience. This may include presentations at conferences, staff events or exhibiting work at other appropriate events.
7. Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of people, both orally and in writing.
8. Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
9. Effective interpersonal skills.
10. Evidence of on-going CPD.
1. Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education or HEA Fellowship.*
2. PhD or other doctoral qualification.
3. Experience and expertise in working with people living with dementia and/or frailty.
4. Familiarity with administration in Higher Education.
*Newly appointed staff who do not already hold HEA professional recognition or a HE teaching qualification, will be required to achieve this within three years of their appointment to the post, either through completion of the PG Cert Learning and Teaching in HE, or for those with significant experience of teaching in HE, via the University’s accredited CPD scheme conferring Fellowship at the appropriate level.
