Student case studies

Some recent graduates reflect on their time on the course.

Andy Jones

“Getting a First Class Honours in Business and Marketing feels amazing. It’s fantastic to see all the hard work and late nights paid off. It’s also a great pleasure knowing that I did my best and got rewarded for it.”

Andy said that he chose the University of Worcester as he liked the City and the course, particularly the option of a year’s placement in industry.

Alongside his degree, he was also training with the Welsh Badminton National Team and managed to win four Senior international caps playing against Portugal and then Denmark, Switzerland and Latvia in the European Men’s Team Championships. “The sports facilities at Worcester Uni are fantastic and really helped me develop as an athlete alongside my studies,” he said.

The 23-year-old is currently on a graduate scheme at Renault UK and hopes to work his way up to a high corporate level in the automotive industry.  Alongside this, his aim is to work towards qualifying for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, playing badminton for Wales.

Svetlana Plasilova

Attending university abroad was quite a sudden decision for Svetlana, who is from Prague.  “One day, a high school classmate dragged me to an event about studying abroad, and here I am!” she said.  “However, I decided to choose the University of Worcester because of the wide range of degrees, societies, and I liked the idea of attending campus university.”

Svetlana is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree at the London School of Economics. Having explored gender in advertising during her last year at Worcester, she is taking this further with a Master’s degree in Gender, Media, and Culture. “I hope that one day my knowledge obtained from the above-mentioned institutions will guide me through my career where I hope to create greater inclusion and media diversity via advertising.”
