This module will help you to develop invaluable leadership skills to take your career to the next level.

This module is part of the Professional Development MA/MSc course - a flexible course that you help design to take your career to the next level.

Overview

This module provides underpinning knowledge in evidence-based practice; research methods and application of research to practice.

You will practice and develop skills in analysing research and developing academic arguments within both teacher-led sessions, within small seminar groups online.

By the end of this module, you will have a foundation understanding of research methods, which relate to contemporary social work practice in leadership. You will have the opportunity to analyse, evaluate critique and debate relevant research, and engage in debate around evidence-based practice, developing a research-minded approach.

It is expected that all advertised modules will run, but there may be situations where there are insufficient students to make a particular module viable.

Career benefits

The course covers leadership theory and skills, organisation change and and introduction to coaching and mentoring. This provides a platform for students to go onto leadership roles within social care and learning and development roles.

This module is delivered online.

There will be 3 full taught days of lectures (one each in March, April and May) and 6 hours of online seminars (spread between April and June).
