Overview

This module provides an opportunity to combine an understanding of information systems with management practices for the management of information systems within a business/organisational context. It allows exploring organisational and management theories, concepts and issues of information management and examining the role of IS in shaping the business and organisational context.

In today’s business environment IS plays a pivotal role in integrating the supply chain and enhancing business performance and competitiveness.

The module is taught via weekly, 2-hour sessions. Please contact wbs@worc.ac.uk to confirm times and dates for the next delivery of this module.

It is expected that all advertised modules will run, but there may be situations where there are insufficient students to make a particular module viable.

In today’s business environment IS plays a pivotal role in integrating the supply chain and enhancing business performance and competitiveness.

This module will enable students to develop and enhance vital skills which are highly sought after by employers such as: problem investigation, critical thinking and consultancy skills.


Module delivery

Typical sessions will contain a mixture of lectures and practical exercises that engage the class in active learning.

Students will engage in small group or independent activities such as case study analysis, discussion, critical reviews of papers, the results of which will be presented back to the whole group. These activities will develop critical understanding of the theories and their application.

Preparatory reading and review of learning material will be necessary to ensure students can effectively participate in and complete this module.

The University VLE will be used to support students through the publishing of lecture notes and links to other relevant resources.

Assessment methods

This module is assessed by:

  • 2,500-word case study


Entry Requirements

Admission to this modules typically requires:

  • A second class honours degree in any subject (or International students holding a qualification recognised as equivalent by the University).

Students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate proficiency to a minimum level of 6.5 IELTS (and minimum of 5.5 in each element) or equivalent
