Students are encouraged to explore key concepts and issues in a variety of sporting activities. Through use of qualitative methods, students shall evaluate and understand the effectiveness of performance analysis provision in relation to briefing and debriefing performance, feedback and player learning. Two intensive days, online discussion and directed study tasks allow students to appraise the current and future directions in the discipline and develop an appropriate action plan for enhancing performance analysis provision.
This module is part of the University’s Applied Sports Performance Analysis MSc . You will study alongside other students on this course. The module is also part of the Professional Development MA/MSc course - a flexible course that you help design to take your career to the next level.

Module delivery
This module is delivered in taught face to face sessions in a block of learning activites that take place in September. Followed by weekly online sessions.
Assessment
Assessment of this module includes a Supporting Document. The supporting document will include students reviewing a key concept and recent developments in performance analysis, providing a critical review of how the selected concept impacts learning, drawing on current research (circa. 1,000 words). Students will outline a plan and rationale for delivering a CPD. The plan should detail how the theoretical concepts will be translated into practical applications, focusing on the beneficial impact of the concept on learning to coaches, players and/or other relevant stakeholders (circa. 500 words). Based on research and evaluation of the CPD sessions, students will create an action plan or best practice resource aimed at enhancing performance analysis provisions to facilitate effective learning (equiv. 500 words).
It also includes a Presentation where students will conduct a CPD session on their chosen topic, presenting theoretical content appropriately to the audience. The session will include an interactive element to gather feedback, which will inform the action plan.
Entry Requirements
Entry to this module requires registration to a postgraduate award in Professional Development. The module is also available as a stand alone module, anyone wishing to take this module as a stand alone module should contact the admissions team.
No prior study is required for this module, but it is advisable to contact the module leader prior to selection of this module.
