Overview

The challenges and demands of business leadership require informed scrutiny in the context of current and emerging contexts such as the collapse of old economies, the digital revolution, climate change, and the global shift in economic power.

The aim of this module is to provide a conceptual and applied leadership skill set which underpins managers understanding of their approach to leadership throughout the organisational change process.

Techniques to explore organisational conditions, evaluate change indicators, and deliver sustainable change effectively will be reviewed in-depth.

The module is taught via weekly, 2-hour sessions. Please contact wbs@worc.ac.uk to confirm times and dates for the next delivery of this module.

It is expected that all advertised modules will run, but there may be situations where there are insufficient students to make a particular module viable.

Career benefits

This module will enable students to identify change leadership skills specific to a range of business change scenarios.

Working in management teams, they will reflect on the impact of their personality on their leadership and communication, use presentation skills, consider equality and diversity issues and plan a small project.

Module delivery

Lecture style presentations will be used to introduce students to relevant theories and models. These will be interspersed with small group or independent activities such as case study analysis, discussion, critical reviews of papers, simulations, and small group activities the results of which will be presented back to the whole group. These activities will develop critical understanding of the theories and their application.

The University VLE will be used to support students through the publishing of lecture notes and links to other relevant resources.

Guest speakers from business are invited to speak at many of the lectures.
