Captain Ollie Halion looks ahead to a big weekend

The University’s Men’s Cricket Indoor 1st Team has reached the finals of the British University and Colleges Sport competition, which takes place on Saturday.

The group stages of the final will see Worcester take on Durham University, Bristol University, and the University of East London.

If successful, Worcester will progress to the Semi-Finals later that day, and then hopefully the final that evening.

Ollie Halion, Jevan Kher, and Ritchie Harley are competing this weekend and are all studying for their Master’s in Cricket Coaching and Management at the University.

Captain Ollie Halion said: “I’m honoured to lead the boys on Saturday, we’ve put a lot of hard work into this, and I think the results will reflect this on Saturday.”

He added: “We’re looking to bring the silverware home with us to Worcester.”

Wicketkeeper Jevan Kher said: “We’re all really excited for Saturday, we can’t wait to get stuck in. We’ve trained hard and we’ve had the right attitude all the way through.”

Club Chairman Ritchie Harley said: “It’s great to be competing again in the finals of the Indoor Championship, we’ve got huge ambitions and expectations off the back of previous campaigns.”

Alfie Marston, Head Coach for Cricket, said: “This is a massive day for the club, and the cricket programme at the University.”

He continued: “This shows the hard work the boys have done to balance their studies and training, and competing this Saturday means they’re guaranteed to finish in the top 8 for indoor cricket in the country; a huge achievement for the players.”

He added: “Let’s hope they can secure a medal position!”
