Will Spires
Will achieved First Class Honours in his degree in Film Studies and Screenwriting BA (Hons).
“It’s my life’s greatest achievement,” said the 21-year-old from Harvington. “I’m immensely proud of the person my time at university has helped me to become.”
Will, a former Prince Henry’s High School and Evesham College student, said finishing his degree during the pandemic was difficult, but he had nothing but praise for the support he had received from his lecturers.
“I was fortunate that my course had such supportive lecturers that ensured I was well prepared to finish my degree while in lockdown,” he said. “If ever I needed any extra help my lecturers made themselves incredibly accessible and are a key reason that I’ve achieved a First in my degree.”
“I want to send out my thanks to Mark Holloway and Sian Summers for mentoring me all throughout my time at university and helping me to become the writer that I am,” he added.
Will is now studying for a PGCE with a view to qualifying as a teacher, but he is also still pursuing a future in the film and television industry.
“In my own time I will continue to write screenplays as I try to get a foot in the door of the film and TV industry,” he said. “My course has done so well in teaching us how to market ourselves and our creative work so I feel ready to tackle graduate life.”
