Congratulations on being invited to an interview!
We are very excited that you have considered our University for your studies and we wish you every success with your application. This web page has been designed to provide you all the information you need to prepare yourself for the interview.
The University of Worcester has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality innovative and contemporary physiotherapy education. This course is validated by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Successful completion of the course will give you eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC and full professional membership of the CSP.
Preparing for your interview
To help you prepare for your interview, you should reflect on why you want to be a physiotherapist and any experience and skills/traits you have that may be relevant, as the interview will focus on these.
There are some relevant online resources that we’d also recommend taking a look at ahead of your interview, which we’ve listed below:
Online Interview Details
The interview will take place online. We will be using Microsoft Teams for the interviews so please make sure your camera and microphone are working. We recommend downloading the Teams App, if possible, rather than using the web version. We will send you the meeting link 1 week prior to the interview.
The Interview Process
Please ensure you have watched the presentation on the course content prior to your interview. This presentation can be accessed here . Time will be allocated to answer any questions you have in relation to the course or the University before we begin. The interview will involve group discussion tasks online with up to 6 participants, 1 lecturer and 1 additional panel member who could be a service user, carer, lecturer, or practice partner. This will be followed by a short 1:1 interview.
The session will start by asking you to briefly introduce yourself to everyone before completing 2 group discussion tasks (see below for details). These will help us to find out a bit more about you and your knowledge of the profession and enable us to look at your communication skills.
Group Activity 1
We would like you to select a photograph or an object which you can use to help tell us a bit about yourself and qualities you will bring to the course and your chosen profession. You will be expected to show your chosen item to the other people attending the interview so please make sure you have it ready.
Group Activity 2
Please watch the following 3 short videos where you will hear about different people’s lives. On the day of the interview, we will ask you to discuss one of the videos and think about how a Physiotherapist might be involved with this person. You will need to demonstrate good knowledge of the breadth of the profession.
Please ensure you join 5 mins before your allocated start time ensuring your camera and microphone are on, you will then be admitted to the interview from a virtual waiting room. Please make sure you have some photo ID ready to show to the panel.
Please check that your IT equipment is working before your interview including your microphone, speakers, and webcam. If you have any concerns about accessibility, please do get in touch and we can discuss an appropriate alternative. Please also think about where you will be when you are interviewed; what will we see behind you, who else is in the area etc. We like meeting members of the family, however, during your interview may not be the right time!
If you arrive late, it may be impossible for you to complete the interview process and alternative arrangements may need to be made; so, please endeavour to attend on time.
If you have any concerns, questions, or support needs in relation to the interview, please let us know.
We look forward to meeting you soon,
Yours sincerely,
Catherine Barrett, Admissions Tutor BSc Physiotherapy
