UW Sport and Sports Scholarships
If you have an outstanding international record of achievement in a particular sport then you may be eligible for a sports scholarship at Worcester.
Our Sports Scholarships
At Worcester we are committed to supporting elite and talented sports performers who are dedicated to both sporting and academic success. We encourage applications from students working as part of an elite athlete pathway, representing at senior or junior national or international competitions, or working towards elite athlete pathway status. We will support you to combine your studies alongside elite sport. We are proud of our dual career accredited status with Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and our partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) for Clean Sport in Higher Education
Our sports scholarships are available for international level athletes in team or individual sports, with support packages including strength and conditioning, sports therapy, gym membership, nutrition, sports psychology, an identified athlete lifestyle advisor, pastoral workshops and a University of Worcester sports clothing bundle.
The scholarship application process for the 2025/26 academic year is open now. The application form will be live until Saturday 31 May 2025. Applicants with an outstanding international record of achievement in a particular sport are encouraged to apply. You can expect to hear an outcome on your application by Friday 11 July 2025.

We have a cpmprehensive UW Sport performance programme which will allow you to access a range of support services if you successfully make the 1st team in any of the above named squads.
UW Sport Scholarship Pathways
Once you've applied for the sports scholarship scheme your application will be reviewed by our panel. If you are successful you'll be placed on one of our two pathways: UW Sport Dual Career Scholarship (Tier 1) or UW Sport Emerging Dual Career Scholarship (Tier 2).
UW Sport Dual Career Scholarship (Tier 1)
As part of this pathway you'll receive:

- Individualised sports therapy and injury prevention
- Lifestyle advisor and academic support
- Performance analysis access
- UW clothing bundle
- Gym membership
- Anti-doping education
- Financial support
- Sports psychology support
- Nutritional support
- Fitness testing
UW Sport Emerging Dual Career Scholarship (Tier 2)
As part of this pathway you'll receive:
- Individual strength and conditioning
- Access to sports therapy clinic
- Lifestyle advisor
- Performance analysis access
- UW clothing bundle
- Gym membership
- Anti-doping education
- Financial support
- Sports nutrition and sports psychology
UW Sport Performance Programme
We value and celebrate high performance sport at the University of Worcester and recognise teams making significant progress in BUCS as well as having strong links with local high performance clubs. Students wishing to pursue high performance sport whilst at university can engage in the performance programme in the sports listed below.
To achieve these aims we work closely with the Students' Union and our performance teams regularly compete at the top levels of BUCS competitions.
Our UW Sport teams
We have UW Sport teams in the following sports:
Athletes who are part of performance programme squads have access to provision which aims to support athletes and teams in achieving their goals. This provision includes: performance coaching, strength and conditioning, fitness profiling, sport psychology profiling, nutrition, sports therapy clinics, access to ice baths and recovery sessions and performance playing kit, as well as a comprehensive student athlete education workshop pathway.
