A selection of portraits by a graduate and lecturer at the University of Worcester, who has spent the past year as Artist in Residence at Worcester Cathedral, will go on show this Easter.
Tania March, who painted the official portrait of the Dean of Worcester, which was unveiled in October last year, is hosting a special exhibition in The Dean’s Chapel at the Cathedral from April 6th to April 29th.
Tania March is an Associate Lecturer on the Creative Media MA at the University.
“I paint portraits of people because I find faces fascinating as we change all the time,” she said. “When I paint a portrait, I feel that the person in the painting can be remembered that way forever.
“In addition to marking the end of my artist’s residency at the Cathedral, this exhibition will include some portraits of my family, as well as being another chance to see the portrait of The Very Reverend Dr Peter Atkinson, Dean of Worcester Cathedral."
The exhibition is free to enter.
Canon Georgina Byrne said: "Tania is a talented portrait artist, whose work reveals the personality of her subjects. We warmly invite visitors to enjoy her paintings and the people who have inspired them."
Tania completed both her undergraduate and Master's degrees at the University of Worcester before becoming a lecturer on the Master's in Creative Media degree.
“I feel privileged to be teaching on the MA here at the University – this is my third year," she said. "I like to connect my practice with my teaching, as I believe in motivating students by example. My students have a broad range of creative disciplines, which include film, graphic design, animation, illustration, photography and painting.”
