Budding illustrators at the University of Worcester will be showcasing their work to the public with a special exhibition titled The Wonderful Everyday.
The second year Illustration students have organised the display of their final pieces, done as part of their studies, which encapsulate the extraordinary things that exist in everyday life.
Held at the University’s new Art House, on Castle Street, it will be open to the public at the launch on Monday (April 8), from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and again on Wednesday (April 10), from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
Five months in the making from concept to final piece, the students have approached the topic in many different ways, with work including a three-metre long tapestry, puppets, a jigsaw, book covers, embroidery and clothing.
Illustration student, Brendan Parsons, 21, will display his work, which is tableware illustrated with Worcester folklore.
“The exhibition is pushing the boundaries of illustration, it’s quite experimental,” he said.
“The Art House is such a great space to exhibit in. It’s the first time during our studies at the University that we have had an exhibition so it’s definitely the first time displaying to the public for many of us. I’m excited and I think everyone is.”
