The University of Worcester has been shortlisted as Nurse Education Provider of the Year (pre-registration) for the seventh time, an all-time record for any English university.

The University is shortlisted in the Student Nursing Times Awards, which recognise the people and places educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Professor David Green CBE DL, the University's Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive, said: “In a year when our healthcare professionals have rightly won the nation’s hearts it is wonderful to learn that Worcester colleagues’ dedication to educating the next generation of health professional have been recognised in this way. This is testament to the top-class work of our outstanding nursing and midwifery educators, together with the highly professional mentors in the health trusts with whom we work.
“Now more than ever we need many more high-quality health professionals in our hospitals and community settings. At the University of Worcester, we are committed to doing all we can to help the national and global efforts to recover from this devastating pandemic.”
Last summer, the University of Worcester was awarded the largest allocation of additional health training places in the Country. A total of 473 extra places per year have been created and have been steadily filled. This September there are more new places for Nursing programmes, with placements available across the three counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, as well as in the West Midlands, including in Dudley and Halesowen.

Our staff and practice partners work incredibly hard to provide the best possible education for our students who go on to make an enormous contribution to their communities.”
Healthcare students at Worcester benefit from well-qualified, creative, enthusiastic, supportive staff and have access to some exceptional learning facilities. The University works in close collaboration with employers, including the NHS, and Worcester graduates are among the most employable in the Country.
This award shortlisting builds on the many successes of the University in recent times, which have also included being named number one in the UK for Quality Education for the last three years in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, being shortlisted for University of the Year three times in THE Awards and twice in the UK Social Mobility Awards and being named Sustainability Institution of the Year in the 2019 Green Gown Awards.
The University is currently well advanced in working towards the creation of the Three Counties Medical School. A successful outcome from the General Medical Council would see the University of Worcester and its partner NHS Health Trusts expand their shared expertise to provide many more, much-needed medical doctors across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
