The University of Worcester has received funding to provide 450 free places on its summer holiday club, held at its Lakeside Campus.
The funding has been allocated as part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, for children in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) and vulnerable families.
Holiday clubs take place at the Lakeside Campus during all school holidays (October, February, Easter, May, and summer). HAF funding is allocated for Christmas, Easter, and Summer. The University was successful in securing funding for Easter and so applied again. It has now been awarded £17,000 to offer 450 children the opportunity to take part over the summer holidays. The funding also provides free lunches for those children.
Activities during the holiday club include bushcraft, zip line, archery, orienteering, canoeing, raft building and kayaking. Clubs run from 10am to 4pm and are suitable for ages six to 14 years.
