First Cohort of Nurses Begin Studies in Dudley

The very first cohort of University of Worcester students have begun their studies in Dudley.
Based at the Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology (IoT) on Zoological Drive, the 29 students are all studying for a BSc Nursing. They will undertake classes at the IoT alongside placements in local health settings.
The launch of the Nursing degree is a milestone in the delivery of a series of new higher education courses in Dudley, giving local people access to a range of high-quality degrees, delivered by the University of Worcester on their doorstep.
Worcester is a leading educator of healthcare professionals and was chosen as the the higher education partner for a new health innovation centre being created in Dudley on Castle Hill. Once opened, the Centre will offer a range of health-related courses, including full and part-time undergraduate degrees and apprenticeships.
Ranked as the number one UK university (excluding specialist institutions) for sustained employment, further study, or both, five years after graduation (LEO 2024), Worcester graduates go on to make a real difference in the world.
The University was described in its most recent report following the national Teaching Excellence Framework as “an engine of opportunity – supporting its students to benefit from an educational experience that is personally transformative and allows them to succeed in their chosen career.”
From September 2025, as well as Nursing, students in Dudley and the wider Black Country region will also have the opportunity to study for a University of Worcester degree in Criminology, Sports Therapy or Assistant Practitioner.
Courses are taught in Dudley by Worcester academics, with access to the University’s full range of expertise and opportunities for work placements in the Dudley region.
