BBC head 'impressed' by industry standard TV studios and inquisitive students

The head of regional news coverage at the BBC gave Journalism students an insight into some of the challenges facing the media organisation on a recent visit to the University of Worcester.
BBC English Regions Controller, David Holdsworth, spoke to third year students to help them prepare for an essay on the topic and took a look at the facilities they are using.
"We had a really interesting discussion about the future of the BBC with students pushing hard on the long term challenges that the BBC faces as a public service broadcaster," he said.
"They were particularly interested in the way that the BBC might evolve to suit younger audiences."
Third year Journalism student Max Banner said: "It was great to have David Holdsworth come into our lecture to talk about the BBC and where its future may be heading. Having the opportunity to talk to somebody of his standing within the BBC is invaluable."
After the discussion, David was taken on a tour of the University's television studio.
"I think the facilities are really impressive and I'm sure many broadcasters would be proud of them. The more that we can give students the real life pressures of broadcasting the better for the students and the industry in the long run," he said.
Journalism lecturer Dan Johnson said the visit had been a huge success.
"The mission of the BBC is to inform, educate and entertain and David deftly achieved all three during a lively discussion with our students who were really engaged throughout," he said.
