The match against Loughborough 4s on Wednesday March 5 in Birmingham will be the furthest the team has ever progressed in the BUCS Women’s Midlands Conference Cup.

Club Chair and Vice-Captain Dani Rogers said: “The pressure was on us in the semi-final, being at home and with a lot of people watching, so to come away as the winners was brilliant.”

She added: “We’ve not taken on Loughborough yet this season, so we’re up against a team that we don’t know. But everyone’s just really excited to just get out there and show what we can do in the final.”

Head Coach Mike Harris said: “I’m delighted we have got this far. The girls are undefeated for almost four months now, so we know we’re good enough to win this cup.”

He continued: “When we beat Birmingham 5-1, the girls all powered through in the last 30 minutes and scored three very good goals. We’ve been strong in the late stages of games and that has been the key to our success.”

The University of Worcester is launching a brand-new degree in Football Performance Coaching in September this year, and Club Chair Dani said it has never been a more exciting time for the women’s game at the University.

“This is everything I’ve dreamed of for the past two years,” she said. “The progression that I’ve seen not just as a first team, but also at the University with women’s football is a true reflection of where the University is aiming to be in the future.”
