The performers, from the Shenanigans Theatre Company, a group of emerging theatre-makers studying for the Touring Theatre MTheatre degree at the University of Worcester, will be taking to the stage with two different pieces.

The festival is an annual celebration of performance and entertainment held at various venues around the City of Edinburgh and attended by thousands of people. It attracts a range of performers, from both big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers.

Shenanigans" piece Extro-Terrestrial is a new sci-fi comedy exploring awkwardness, heroism and human interaction."It features five introverts torn from their secluded lives who face experimentation, extroverted aliens and each other.

The second piece Me, Myself and AI delves into the dark world of misguided technology trust to explore the complexity of our relationship with technology.

Masters student Will Moore, 31, who will be performing, said: "Performing at the Fringe has me excited for the opportunity to expand the audience base of new collaborative work and develop myself as an adaptable performer. Rehearsals have been great and the show has come into its own. Being at the Fringe is a huge opportunity to develop ourselves and to use the diverse platform to explore new, exciting avenues of work. I'm hoping to network a little, and to experience the freedom of creativity amongst such a wide range of performing and artistic styles."

This will be the Shenanigans Theatre Company's first visit to the Edinburgh Fringe. Its performances run between Saturday (August 4) and August 25.""The company's production of David Almond's Skellig was selected for the National Student Drama Festival 2017 and was awarded a Commendation in the Best Family Show category.

The University of Worcester's integrated Masters in Touring Theatre gives students the skills and experience they need to establish themselves as independent makers of touring theatre." Students enter at undergraduate level but graduate with a masters-level award. " During their four years of study, they gain hands-on experience of creating and producing performance work for a range of venues, communities and organisations while developing the business and marketing skills to set up their own touring theatre company or establish themselves as solo practitioners.

Daniel Coleman, Lecturer in Drama and Performance at the University of Worcester, said: "At the University of Worcester, we believe it is important that our students not only develop their skills in drama but also get hands-on experience in the industry. This is an invaluable opportunity for our students to gain experience of performing on one of the most famous drama platforms in the world and seeing how their work plays out in front of audiences. It is also a chance to observe and gain inspiration from other innovative performers and writers attracted to this festival every year."
