Worcester’s Legal Advice Clinic is set to return, with members of the public invited to come and get free and confidential advice on legal matters.
The limited number of sessions, which will be held at The Hive, will see Law students from the University of Worcester supporting qualified solicitors as they listen to people’s issues and offer advice.
Help will be available on issues of family law, personal injury law and medical law.
Harriet Payter, Senior Lecturer at the University of Worcester, said: “The clinic aims to offer non-urgent help to people in matters relating to specific types of law, and the advice being given comes from local, experienced solicitors who are experts in their fields.”
She continued: “The sessions mean students get real world experience of supporting solicitors in actual legal situations and this is invaluable for their development.”
She added: “It’s also a chance for us to celebrate the strong links the University of Worcester’s School of Law has with local solicitors, who are really supportive of our students.”
The Legal Advice Clinic cannot offer advice on any matter which is urgent, issues relating to domestic violence, actions against the police or inquests.
Anyone who has an issue they think would be suitable for the Legal Advice Clinic is asked to contact lawclinic@worc.ac.uk with their name and contact details and a brief explanation of their issue.
A follow-up phone call will be made, and then an appointment offered if it’s an issue the Legal Advice Clinic can help with.
Unfortunately, the Clinic is unable to provide services such as representation in court or help with drafting documents.
The in-person sessions will take place on Wednesday afternoons between November and May, starting on the 13th of November, and are available strictly by booking in advance.
