A new Degree Apprenticeship is to be launched at the University of Worcester next month.
Degree Apprenticeships were launched by the Government last year as an innovative new model bringing together the best of higher and vocational education.
The courses allow people to combine both the academic study from a traditional university degree and the practical experience and wider employment skills vital for career success.
The University of Worcester's Business School will launch its Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship during its annual lecture on Monday, April 11 at 5pm. The Lecture takes place in The Hive.
Ian Myson, Director of Higher Education Partnerships and Product Management at the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) will deliver the keynote speech, titled "Ending the Accidental Manager: The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship as a game-changer".
He will be followed by Dr Scott Andrews, Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Management and Strategic Lead in Work Based Learning at the University of Worcester. Dr Andrews will talk about how the Worcester approach to Degree Apprenticeships can work for businesses in addressing the leadership and management skills which many organisations have identified as critical to business success.
The Worcester Chartered Manager Apprenticeship Degree is a practical, work-based course which develops the skills, knowledge and practical experience to allow people to become effective first-line and middle managers. The sessions are interactive, practical, with a real-world focus, underpinned by a degree of academic rigour. The work-based element of the programme gives the opportunity for the skills and knowledge developed to be applied in the workplace.
Tim Maxfield, Director of Business Development at Worcester Business School, said: "Our Annual Business School lecture in 2016 coincides with the official launch of the University's Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. This is a new approach to Leadership and Management Development which can lead to recognised professional qualifications up to and including a full BA (hons) degree."
