A group of 60 young school leavers attended a special event at the University's Lakeside Campus helping them to explore their next steps.
The young people, aged 14-16 years old, spent three days at the Lakeside Campus with the aim of raising their aims and aspirations and helping them understand what job opportunities are available to them once they leave school.
It was run as a collaboration between the University of Worcester and Worcestershire County Council's Looking Ahead programme.
The days included talks from university employees and colleagues from companies who work closely with the University. This was to illustrate to the young people the variety of employment opportunities that are available at the University.
Many of the learners are Worcestershire County Councils Looked After Children, whilst others are identified as needing help to guide them into making a successful transition at the end of Year 11. The learners on the programme also receive mentoring support on a regular basis from experienced mentors.
Robert Delahay, Outdoor Activity and Sport Manager at the University of Worcester, said: "Having worked with the Worcestershire County Council Early Help NEET Prevention Team in previous years we were delighted to be involved again in their Looking Ahead programme that was funded by the Career and Enterprise Company to deliver three Employer Engagement days to Year 11 learners from Worcestershire Secondary Schools based at our new Lakeside Campus.
"We were joined by other colleagues across a wide variety of different departments thought out the university who offered short talks about themselves and how they achieved success through their chosen career pathways.
"After the talks the young people were given the opportunity to take part in an array of outdoor education activities including canoeing, bush craft and team building in the hopes of raising their self-esteem, confidence and resilience."
