A Sport Business Management student at the University of Worcester proudly wore the famous yellow jersey after winning the first round of the National Trophy Cyclo-Cross series.
Bethany Crumpton, from Redditch, will now go to round two at Abergavenny at the end of this month, where she is hoping for further success. This race will be broadcast live on Welsh TV channel, S4C.
However, before that she heads to round three of the UCI World Cup series in Koksijde Belgium, after finishing 30th in round two, which took place in Wisconsin, USA, recently.
"It's proving to be a great season so far," said the 23-year-old, who is in the second year of her studies at the University.
"I am delighted to be taking the leaders jersey in to the second round in Abergavenny in three weeks" time. This is again a course I am looking forward to and the category of race is one higher than at Derby so there will be a few more UCI points up for grabs too. I am aiming for the top 50 UCI by mid-January next year."
Alongside combining her academic study with racing at Cyclo-Cross events, Bethany is also working for Storey Racing team, led by Dame Sarah Storey, as part of her placement in PR, Sponsorship and Social Media in an attempt to gain more exposure for women cycling in the UK.
