The Institute of Education hosted three members of staff and twelve trainee teachers from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas for a week long visit studying how teacher education is delivered in the UK.
The programme included four visits to local partnership schools; Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College, Worcester, South Bromsgrove High, Hanley Castle High School and Cambrian New Elizabethan Special School in Hartlebury.
Each of the schools put together unique programmes, which included presentations and observations of lessons which were greatly appreciated by the visitors.
Academic colleagues in the Institute of Education delivered seminar and workshop sessions that included inputs on the National Curriculum, Teaching and Learning and Special Needs in Further Education.
This was also an excellent opportunity for colleagues from both institutions to compare and contrast initial teacher training from two different countries.
