University of Worcester Charity of the Year Appeal Gets Further Boost

Fundraising for the University of Worcester's Charity of the Year has received a further boost with a donation from The Enterprise Holdings Foundation and a Christmas craft stall hosted by staff.
The Enterprise Holdings Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Holdings, which, through its regional subsidiaries, operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands. It has donated £1,000 to Maggs Day Centre, a Worcester-based charity that helps the city's homeless, which was chosen as the University's 2016 Charity of the Year.
Ben Smith, Strategic Account Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, said "We are delighted to be able to support Maggs Day Centre. Enterprise Rent-A-Car has a long term relationship with the University and we were eager to support their fundraising efforts. Following a successful application to our charity foundation, (The Enterprise Holdings Foundation), we were able to donate an extra £1,000."
Meanwhile, a craft stall selling Christmas gifts and decorations, handmade by staff in the University's Communications and Participation department, raised more than £600 for Maggs.
Staff and students have held a number of fundraising activities for the Charity of the Year campaign over the past few months, including the completion of the Hadrian's Wall Walk, which raised over £6,000 alone, cake sales, and a Tour de France cycling challenge.
Michael Connor, Volunteer Co-ordinator and Development Manager at Maggs Day Centre, said the money would go towards activities and educational opportunities not just for the homeless but those on the edges of society.
"We are very grateful to Enterprise and to the University," he said. "This money will go towards supporting activities within the Centre. One of our aims is to provide more than food and shelter but also to support people in all aspects of their life and get them feeling that life is worth living."
