Alison brings 20 years’ industry experience working as a HR Professional, Executive and Leadership Coach and HR and Learning and Development Consultant as well as 10 years’ educational experience working in Further and Higher Education.
She has worked with many blue-chip companies and clients, across private, public and third sector leading large teams driving cultural change through HR interventions focusing on leadership, change management and organisational design, both at home and across Europe.
She teaches Human Resource Management, Leadership, and Coaching and Mentoring and also has the privilege of working with new teachers studying for their PGCE programmes, as well as developing existing teachers’ knowledge and skills in assessment and quality assurance practices.
She also has a vast experience of FE and HE apprenticeship programmes being an industry ‘trailblazer’ during the apprenticeship reforms from frameworks to standards. She has designed and delivered many apprenticeship qualifications for FE and HE and she has worked as a consultant with various End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAO) as an End Point Assessor (EPA) as well as a consultant developing assessment EPAs including question banks. She is now involved with developing higher degree apprenticeships.
Alison brings a very practical, commercial, and student led pedagogy to the university enabling students to engage in practical application of skills and behaviours, in addition to developing knowledge relating to academic theory and constructs.
Teaching Interests
Human Resource Management is a passion for Alison, in particular strategies that drive staff engagement and contribute to bottom line performance; driving high performance teams.
Leadership is another passion, having studied the theory but also having put this into practice as a leader herself and a consultant where she has worked with various companies in retail, manufacturing and finance, including driving organisational change and bottom-line results via executive leadership coaching.
