Andrea is a full-time PhD student in the School of Science and the Environment at the University of Worcester within the Sustainable Environments Research Group.
Andrea’s main research interest is using remote sensing for monitoring. Her PhD research concerns using multi-scale remote sensing data to understand bumblebee wildflower meadow habitat preferences.
Her supervisors are Dr Kate Ashbrook and Dr Fleur Visser at the University of Worcester and Dr Richard Comont from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust.
Andrea is very grateful to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust for co-funding her PhD studentship.
Prior to commencing her PhD, Andrea worked as a professor and researcher at the Technological Costa Rican Institute (TEC). As a professor, she taught general GIS courses for undergraduates at the Agricultural Engineer School and on the postgraduate master’s degree in Technology and Science for Sustainable Development. She participated as a researcher in various projects, the most recent one “Using UAV for evaluating the quality and development of forest plantations” at TEC.
