Dr Derry Carr joined the University of Worcester in 2024 after completing a PhD at the University of Birmingham, working with Associate Professor Juliet Coates. Where she researched the evolution of the MADS-box gene family (integral genes involved in floral development) and their function in seedless plants that don’t have flowers, working in the model fern Ceratopteris.
Derry graduated from the University of Worcester in 2019 where she read Biochemistry. For her dissertation she looked into the use of algae as a bioremediation tool in heavy metal polluted waterways. Her current research interests lie in conservation, conversation, and all things green; primarily the evolution and development of green life on land.
