Jennifer Gadd is the Head of Department for Primary Education. Jennifer is a dedicated educator with a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for teacher training and education.
Jennifer's journey began at Oxford Brookes University, where she played a pivotal role in leading the primary education team through the accreditation process. During her time there she oversaw two PGCE programs, an assessment-only QTS route, and an undergraduate teacher training program. Her focus was always on the development and improvement of these programs.
Before her leadership role at Oxford Brookes, Jennifer served as the Course Leader for two PGCE programs. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she took on the important role of leading safeguarding efforts within the School of Education, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all. Prior to this Jennifer was a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education, specialising in primary Science and Design Technology. Her expertise in these areas has influenced numerous students during their educational journeys.
Before transitioning to higher education, Jennifer taught in primary and first schools across Oxfordshire and Worcestershire. She taught students across all key stages, with a specialism in upper Key Stage Two classes. She also took on the role of primary science coordinator in three primary schools, contributing to the enhancement of science education.
Jennifer's own educational journey began with a three-year BA in Primary Teacher Education (Hons). She later pursued a Masters degree in Learning and Teaching at the University of Oxford, with her dissertation focusing on mentoring in schools to support fellow teachers in primary science pedagogy. Jennifer also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Higher Education.
Currently, Jennifer is pursuing an EdD program, with her research focusing on the implementation of the Design Technology curriculum in schools. Her dedication to advancing educational practices remains at the core of her academic pursuits.
