Lara is a lecturer in Psychology, specialising in Psychological Interventions, and is a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT). Lara teaches full time on the Postgraduate Certificate and Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner in Specialist Adult Mental Health (MHWP) course and is the Module 1 Lead. She also teaches across undergraduate psychology courses and nursing programmes.

Lara is a lived experience mental health clinician who is passionate about breaking stigmas surrounding mental health experiences. She strives to encourage safe, open and compassionate conversations around these experiences and aspires to promote greater awareness and understanding of the wealth of topics that fall under the umbrella of mental health.

Before moving into academia, Lara’s work as a mental health clinician spanned adult primary and secondary care mental health services where she specialised as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist in the NHS and private practice. Lara is also a Chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist with experience working in elite men’s football and across various disciplines within British Gymnastics.

Lara is currently completing her Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

Lara is now one of the Safeguarding Leads (Students) for the University.

  • MHWP4102/3102 – Care planning in partnership
  • MHWP4103/3103 – Wellbeing-focussed psychologically-informed interventions for severe mental health problems
  • PSYC2546 – Applied Psychological Science
