Lucy qualified in Social work in 2019 and since then has been working in the NHS and within the County Council, firstly as a social worker and then as an Advanced Social Work practitioner within a specialist Mental Health team. This involved work both in the community supporting those with chronic and enduring mental health difficulties, and in locked secure mental health wards or rehabilitation across the county. Lucy also practiced as a Social Supervisor, working with those conditionally discharged from forensic sections by the Ministry of Justice.
Aside from working in Mental Health which has been her passion since before qualification, she has worked alongside students both on the apprenticeship pathway and BA and MA, supporting them in their progress towards qualification and professional registration as a Social Worker. Lucy has loved working with and supporting students in their learning and in September 2024 joined the Social Work team as a Practice Educator Facilitator Lecturer.
Lucy was born and grew up in the Cotswolds in a village just outside of Bath, before moving to London where she lived for 4 years. She spent 8 years working in a secondary school as a Laboratory manager and Science Technician before moving to Worcester to commence her studies. She has remained working in the area and spends much of her time now in rural Herefordshire where she lives with her husband and dogs. When not dog walking or working she loves travel, photography, cooking, and reading.
