Michael is a former police officer who served 27 years in West Mercia Police. He was fortunate enough to serve the community in a broad range of operational front-line policing duties.

After serving 12 years in a wide variety of uniform policing roles, Michael became a Detective and later Detective Sergeant. He developed a keen interest in interviewing, which included the interviewing of suspected offenders, victims of crime, and witnesses involved in serious and major crime investigations.

Michael became a Tier 5 Interview Advisor and has considerable experience in the conduct, management, and formulation of the strategy for serious and complex interviews. He has extensive experience in the investigation of the most serious criminal offences and the subsequent criminal proceedings. He was later employed with the Professional Standards Department and Anti-Corruption Unit which included working with the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Michael enjoys sharing his knowledge and policing experience to encourage students to adopt an investigative and problem-solving mindset drawing on real life criminal investigations.
