Michelle has worked with children and families in various capacities, initially as an NNEB in nursery, mainstream, special educational needs setting, and at a LA Assessment Centre for babies and young children prior to Portage Interventions. She has also worked as a sign language tutor and facilitated courses for children, parents and educational settings through consultancy work.
Spending time in Further Education Michelle was Lecturer and Course Leader for the HND in Early Years, then moved to the University of Worcester as a Senior Lecturer where she led and developed a successful Flexible and Distributed On-line Learning approach to widening participation for Local Authority Partnerships within the early years sector, providing online and university experiences for those practitioners completing a Foundation Degree in Early Years. Currently Michelle is Module Leader for IWCF3004 Advanced Practice in Holistic Development.
Michelle's research interests are anchored within how children are influenced by current socioeconomic affordances evident within our society, and how safeguarding development can bring about positive change in outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. Previous research completed by Michelle has considered how online environments influence both children, their families and practitioners.
