Omid became a university lecturer after working as a freelance illustrator. Before joining the team at Worcester, he lectured in Animation at the University of Wolverhampton, where he made a significant contribution to the development of 3D modelling and animation.
Omid's research activity is diverse, ranging from heritage visualisation to participation in the making of independent films. His interest centres on the question of character, with character design and animation having informed the bulk of his work. Sam Moore's An Eyeful of Sound, the latest film on which he has worked, adopts a non character-based approach in an emotive attempt to engage audiences with the condition of synaesthesia.
Omids professional expertise is recognised to be in the use of computer generated imaging (CGI), but his teaching reflects the diversity of animation practices and techniques, from traditional to more experimental and recent methods. He is currently looking into motion capture as an aid to story telling, and character-driven narrative. He is Course Leader for Worcesters undergraduate Animation course.
