Richard qualified as a PE teacher in 2002 and has worked for significant periods in the secondary and further education sectors in England and Wales. Having performed in a range of roles including Head of Year and Head of Department, Richard has been the course leader for Physical Education and Sports Coaching courses at the University of Worcester since 2018.
Richard has a real passion for sports education and providing opportunities for people to be active and healthy throughout their lives. His research interests are in the 14-19 PE and sport curriculum and he is actively coaching rugby union in the community.

Research Interests:
Richard is interested researching in the levels of preparedness PE teachers feel when delivering accredited PE and sports courses. He is also interested in using a Problem Based Learning approach to support student autonomy in learning.
