Martina Monroe
Martina Monroe from the Czech Republic who studied BA Marketing, Advertising and PR at the University has spoke about achieving First Class Honours and her experience of study at Worcester.
“I am absolutely thrilled about achieving First Class Honours,” “Hard work pays off and it is a great ending to this wonderful chapter in my life.”
During her studies Martina also achieved a Worcester Gold Award, an employability award from the University recognising voluntary and paid work during a student’s degree to enhance their CV for potential employers. “It was an exciting experience that helped me get out of my comfort zone and develop many skills,” she added.
“I have a passion for travelling and I knew that the UK would present a lot of valuable experience and opportunities,” she said. “The decision to move so far away from home seemed very scary at the time and what intrigued me about the University of Worcester the most was the inclusivity, wide selection of courses as well as support offered. On top of that, Worcester is a lovely city that made me feel welcome and quickly became my second home.”
Martina was hugely affected by the pandemic as she was pregnant at the time and did not want to risk anything. After consultation with her personal academic tutor, she concluded it would be best not to attend the lectures in person. “All my lecturers were extremely understanding,” she said. “Shortly after that, the teaching went online, which was a tremendous relief for me! Thanks to that I was able to travel home, to the Czech Republic, and spend the quarantine with my family. Also, I was able to fully concentrate on completing my assignments and projects for school as for the first time in years I did not have a job that would be consuming my free time.”
In the future, Martina plans to move to the United States and would like to get more insight into the global aspects of the industry. “Currently, my main area of interest is social media and its impact on brand loyalty,” she said. “In the future I would like to pursue further education so that I can be the best I can be in my field.”
